Arrgggg!

It's time for one of my favorite holidays...HALLOWEEN! I love, love, love to dress up.  (just ask my poor YWs leaders...I always had great outfits for girls camp)  That means when it comes to my halloween costume I pull out all the stops.  We had our ward Halloween party/Chili cookoff last night. I'm spoiling the surprise of our costumes by posting this a week early, but the pictures were too great to keep to myself.

I wish I had a picture to show all the detail of  the costumes...the dangly earrings, the fake eyelashes, and Tyler's pirate ring that he made the kiddos kiss.  Tyler looked fantastic complete with eyeliner and brown eyeshadow all over his face to make him look dirty.

This picture doesn't even do him justice, but it's the best we could get. Unfortunately I was so busy running the kids Halloween booth that I didn't get any pictures of the other great costumes or any of my young women girls.  We had to leave before the awards were given out but we won best costume and were awarded a golden ladle.

We had long been anticipating the Robinson family costumes (literally 2 months at least).  Boy was it worth the wait!  They looked great.  A disco family, complete with tie-dye socks and all.  Too cute!

Paige striking a pose! Dancing queen!

Mission call

My brother got his mission call to Tucson, AZ -Spanish speaking a couple of weeks ago. We are all very excited for him.  I can't believe my little John-boy who I babysat for so many years  is all grown up. We were able to go with him when he went to the temple for the first time. It was great to be there with my family as the youngest of the siblings went through the temple.

I can hardly believe this boy will be living on his own for 2 years serving a mission!

Of course we had to snap a quick pic in front of the fountain. Can't believe we were married here more than 3 years ago! i love my honey!!

Cake pops

I was in charge of activity a couple weeks ago and the value for the month was knowledge. I wanted to teach them something fun to make. Halloween cake pops is what we ended up making. I got the idea from Bakerella.com

These were my examples...I wish the pic had turned out better but it's a mummy, spider, pumpkin, cat, and ghost. The girls did a great job and were very creative.

Just be sure you don't make your cake pops too big otherwise they might end up like this...
